The new year is upon us!

We took a moment to reflect on our activities and goals for this initiative while looking forward to increasing our impact around the world. The Women and Girls Lead Global teams have been hard at work with our on-the-ground activities in Peru, Bangladesh, India, Jordan and Kenya. To wrap up the year, here are some of the things we’ve accomplished in 2015:

  • A successful influencer event in San Francisco, integrating technology and innovation into the Women and Girls Lead initiative
  • Launching and online series of animated shorts called I Have a Story in Jordan, reaching 1.5million people across the country
  • Kenya hosted their first Women in the Red Awards featuring radio host Anne Njogu and generating media attention from top news outlets including KTN morning news
  • Peru’s new film “Don’t Back Down” is now a key educational tool for  regional health departments
  • In Jordan, screening attendees are breaking the silence around gender-based violence: 93-96% of screening attendees shared information or offered advice on gender-based violence with a friend or family member
  • Bangladesh launched a parent-daughter photo contest among the Best School For Girls campaign schools in Gagni for International Day of the Girl. These photos were displayed during IDG celebrations
  • In India, the change model was introduced during a 5-day symposium for lawyers, judges, and law students to focus on human rights advocacy through film
